Osteopathy
What is
Osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on therapy that looks at the body as a connected whole. It’s based on the principle that when the body’s structure (bones, muscles, joints, and tissues) is balanced and moving well, its systems can function at their best.
An osteopathic manual practitioner uses precise techniques to assess and release areas of restriction — supporting better movement, circulation, and overall health. The goal is to help your body restore its own natural balance and self-healing ability.
Safe. Professional. Evidence-Informed.
Our osteopathic manual practitioners are trained to national standards, insured, and committed to continuing education. We communicate openly with your healthcare team — ensuring your care is coordinated, professional, and centred on your goals.
Osteopathy
Why Choose
Clients often describe osteopathy as both deeply relaxing and surprisingly effective. It can:
Relieve tension and stiffness
Improve posture and movement
Support recovery from injury or strain, such as stubborn sports injuries or chronic pain
Enhance overall well-being and body awareness
Complement other therapies such as physiotherapy, massage, or exercise rehabilitation
General Osteopathy
An osteopathic manual practitioner works with the general population to:
Improve joint and tissue mobility
Reduce muscle and fascial tension
Support circulation and nervous system function
Restore the relationship between structure and function
Many people seek osteopathy for issues such as back or neck pain, joint stiffness, postural strain, headaches, or simply to feel and move better in their daily lives.
Pregnancy & Infant Osteopathy
Pregnancy brings incredible changes to your body — and sometimes, a few aches and imbalances along the way. Osteopathy offers a calm, hands-on way to stay comfortable, mobile, and supported through each trimester and into postpartum recovery.
Your osteopathic manual practitioner uses gentle, safe techniques to help:
Relieve back, hip, or pelvic tension
Improve circulation and ease swelling
Support posture and breathing
Encourage balance in the pelvis and spine
After birth, osteopathy can also assist with:
Postpartum back, neck, or rib discomfort
Pelvic and core realignment
Gentle support for cesarean or birth-related recovery
Reducing strain from feeding, lifting, and daily care
Osteopathy can complement pelvic floor physiotherapy or other rehab care — helping your body regain strength, comfort, and confidence as you adjust to life with your new little one.
Gentle Care for Growing Little Bodies
Birth can be a big event — even for the smallest among us. Osteopathy offers gentle, hands-on support to help babies adjust to life outside the womb and move comfortably as they grow.
Using light, soothing touch, treatment focuses on easing areas of tension and supporting your baby’s natural mobility and comfort.
Parents often seek osteopathy to help with:
Difficulty latching or feeding
Reflux, gas, or colic
Head-turning preference or flat spots
Tension in the neck or body
Restlessness or unsettled sleep
Sessions are calm and baby-led — often with your little one resting in your arms. The goal is to help them relax, move freely, and feel their best.

Each treatment is tailored to your individual needs. You’ll leave feeling relaxed, balanced, and supported — with a better understanding of how your body functions.
General
Osteopathy
Practitioners use gentle, safe techniques specific to the needs of pregnancy, postpartum, and infants. Sessions are calm, supportive, and often involve family-centred care:
Pregnant and postpartum sessions help restore comfort and mobility, supporting recovery and wellness.
Infant sessions use light, soothing touch, often with the baby resting in your arms, to ease tension and encourage natural movement.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Sessions for pregnancy, postpartum, or babies are similarly individualized, focusing on safety, comfort, and gentle support. Practitioners work collaboratively with your healthcare team, including physiotherapists and pediatric specialists, when needed.

Home Visits
Osteopathy
We understand that getting out of the house can be challenging for many people. For expecting parents, pregnancy can be tiring and unpredictable. For parents with babies or young children, juggling schedules, naptimes, and little ones who struggle with car rides can make appointments feel overwhelming — we completely get it.
Mobile appointments are also available for individuals with mobility limitations, those undergoing cancer treatment or living with illness, and anyone whose transportation challenges make clinic visits difficult.
Available in Walkerton and Hanover. Surrounding areas may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
Osteopathy in Canada
Manual osteopathy in Canada is represented nationally by Osteopathy Canada (OSTCAN) and The Canadian Alliance of Alternative Medicine (ACMA), which set high standards for education and professional practice. OSTCAN-aligned training programs, such as the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO), require a minimum of 4,200 hours of study, while The National Academy of Osteopathy includes over 2500 hours of study. Both programs require over 1,000 hours of supervised clinical practice, following international benchmarks established by the World Health Organization (WHO).
While manual osteopathy is not yet provincially regulated, OSTCAN and ACMA ensure consistent national standards for ethics, training, and safe practice
